DesignX at Holiday Heroes (Dec 2025): Bringing Design Activities To Bay Area Families
In December 2025, DesignX was honored to participate in Holiday Heroes at Oracle Park in San Francisco for the 4th year in a row—bringing hands-on design and making activities to kids and families across the Peninsula. Holiday Heroes is a community event that brings holiday cheer to children throughout the region, including many underserved families, and we’re proud to support that mission as a partner of the Wender Weis Foundation.
What is Holiday Heroes?
Holiday Heroes is a holiday community event that brings cheer to children across the Peninsula. They help kids laugh hard, stand tall, and dream big through sports, after-school programs, and unforgettable experiences.
Where was Holiday Heroes 2025 held?
At Oracle Park, home of San Francisco Giants, in San Francisco.
What did DesignX do at Holiday Heroes in Dec 2025?
DesignX hosted two hands-on stations: a festive Holiday Fashion Pop-Up where young designers could unleash their creativity and design their own version of holiday looks on small-scale mannequins and a fun toy making activity that invited kids and families to play with materials to design a colorful wood spinning top. From fabrics to flair, every fold and pattern told the story of imagination, joy, and wonder.
In partnership with the Wender Weis Foundation for Children, this special experience was created to bring the magic of hands-on-making to kids of all backgrounds—because we believe creativity shines brightest when shared.
Fashion Design and Toy Design — Hosted by DesignX
1) Fashion Design Activity for Kids
At our fashion design station, kids could explore how designers think—starting with imagination and turning it into something visual. The activity was built to be welcoming for all ages and experience levels, so every child could leave feeling proud of their work.
Why it matters: Fashion design is a powerful way for kids to practice creativity, self-expression, and storytelling—skills that build confidence far beyond the activity table.
2) Toy Making Activity
Our toy making activity invited kids to design with play in mind—experimenting with shapes, colors, patterns, and simple wood construction. Making a toy is more than crafting: it’s problem-solving, iteration, and delight.
Why it matters: Toy design helps children practice “build-test-improve,” a design mindset that supports resilience and creative thinking.
Creativity As a Form of Community Care
DesignX exists to help young people experience the joy (and confidence) of making. At Holiday Heroes, that mission becomes even more meaningful. For many families, events like this create access to experiences that might otherwise be out of reach—moments where kids can explore creativity, feel supported, and simply have fun.
During the holidays especially, we believe creativity can be a kind of gift:
A spark of possibility
A hands-on way to connect as a family
A reminder that every child deserves space to imagine and create
