Architectural Design summer camp for Kids and Teens

Are your kids fascinated by the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House or the Taj Mahal? Do they see the world through shapes? IF YES, our one-of-a-kind program in Architectural Design is right up their alley. Piloted in 2019, DesignX is excited to amplify the study of architecture and the built environment to kids and teens in the Bay Area.

Los Altos Town Crier - Architecture camp engages kids in world around them

Students will develop skills in observation, reasoning and critical thinking as they explore and learn about functional, safe and aesthetically appealing buildings and spaces. They will leave this class with not only an appreciation of their built environment; the buildings, towns, cities and communities that they are made up of but also a small scale model of their building.

Opening up possibilities

One of my favorite parts during the DesignX camp was the sketching at the beginning. We were able to draw anything we wanted and I’ve always loved just drawing freely without any restrictions. Another best-loved memory was when we were done creating the actual buildings, and started focusing on details to bring our designs to life. I am definitely someone who pays attention to detail, so I decided to draw 2D furniture on the inside of my building. It really pulled everything together and it added my own personalization to the design. Designing and creating these buildings really showed me what I could become in the future, so I’m glad I could be a part of it!

Great camp for boys AND girls

My daughter really enjoyed her first DesignX camp this summer. We referred a friend to try the camp on a different week, and she loved it too!  Next summer, the girls want to go back to DesignX together!

Challenges create opportunities for learning

Our expectations were exceeded! Our daughter had a blast and will definitely sign her up for next summer. The staff was extremely responsive. Emails were responded to in the matter of hours and my daughter learned so much and was able to create so much in such a short time. I especially liked their emphasis on what your challenge is each day so that our kids can learn that challenges are expected and we overcome them.
